UPDATE We are back. We were gone for 40 days which makes this a trip that was biblical in proportions in many ways. It took a while but here are the best of my images of our trip on my portfolio site. Later I hope to update the itinerary to show what we actually visited and what we could not.
This will be our fifth road trip. The big difference with this one is that we will begin the trip by flying. Driving to the Pacific Northwest would take a week of driving each way. We will miss having our own car to arrange and carry everything we might need - Yeti, food box, hiking sticks. We will still have a car, it just won't be ours. It will be a new way to travel and pack.
Washington and Oregon are the last 2 of the states in the continental United States that we have not visited. Another important part of the trip will be the "Out of Oregon" photography conference from October 16-21 in Newport. Out 2018 trip began with the Out of Chicago Flower Conference and I learned so much there about photography. The focus of this conference is coastal photography.
The planning stages for this trip began with the announcement that the conference has so many people that wanted to attend that they added another week. Since I got the email announcement from their newsletter before it was posted on their website I was able to get a spot. The conference is limited to 100 people with 10-12 instructors.
So far this has been the most difficult trip to plan. There is so much to see and this will probably be the only time we will get to travel to this part of our country. We usually are gone 5 weeks but with this trip to get the photography conference and everything in we are going for 6 weeks. We also have the added issue of flying and renting a car, which is something that we haven't done in a long time.
